Sands of Morar :: West Coast of Scotland 2008

St Peter's can be found nestled within the woods behind Cardross village. Slowly being consumed by the weather, vegetation and local young teams this impressive grade 'A' listed concrete building never fails to impress.

Gillespie, Kidd & Coia were commissioned to design St Peter's by the Archbishop of Glasgow in 1958. Completed in 1966 and awarded the RIBA architecture award in 1967 the building served as a teaching college for 14 years and was eventually closed in 1980.

Having laid dormant for 28 years there have been several schemes put forward to ensure that the building is not lost forever but as yet none of these have been succesful. One suggestion is that it should become the first stabilised and protected 20th Century ruin.
